Prosthetics and Orthotics International (POI)
ISPO's journal, Prosthetics and Orthotics International (POI), is one of the major scientific publications in the field of prosthetics and orthotics. This international, multidisciplinary journal is addressed to all professionals who have an interest in the medical, clinical, rehabilitation, technical, educational and research aspects of prosthetics, orthotics and rehabilitation engineering, as well as related topics.
Published six times a year by SAGE, POI contains review articles, original research reports, case studies and case series, clinical and technical notes, and book reviews pertinent to prosthetics, orthotics and rehabilitation engineering practices. Special issues on specific topics of interest to the journal's readership, information about ISPO activities and the reports of ISPO consensus conferences and working groups are also published.
Dr. Timothy Bach from La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, is the journal's Editor-in-Chief. Having significant research, teaching and academic experience in biomechanics, prosthetics, orthotics and other allied health disciplines at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, he was previously the Head of the National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics at La Trobe University. Although he has recently retired, he continues his affiliation with the University as an Adjunct Associate Professor. Dr. Bach is supported by nine Associate Editors and an Editorial Board of 25 eminent researchers based in universities and hospitals around the world.
The POI print journal is distributed free of charge to ISPO members. Full access to the electronic publication, including pre-publication articles, is available to ISPO members and institutional subscribers. Selected articles are promoted in the ISPO eUpdate and available to eUpdate readers through the ISPO website. Articles published more than two years previously are openly available through the journal website.
